Batten down the Hatches…

Well, we’ve decided to build an ark here in Edinburgh. S’logical, really. And it’s not even winter yet.

Already I’m soggy.

But I *still* am enjoying it, so much. What helps was the weekend excursion to Dawyck Botanical Gardens with Seth and gingiber. The weather proffered a perfect day for strolling though endless acres of horticultural delight. I stuffed my pockets with acorns, seed pods, and various sharp and thorny things that I impaled my hand on more than once. My room now has the smell of ancient oak leaves and lichen…

…and, of course, Edinburgh brewery yeast. Stick your nose on the screen, and take a sniff…

I shouldn’t even taint these visions with mundane words. So here you go.

Dawyck House
A view over Dawyck House from the gardens into the Scottish Borders.

Dawyck Borders
The beautiful Borders, with the hint of Fall approaching in splendrous beauty.

Colors 1
We surely swore that this tree was on fire…

Autumn in full effect, anointing the rods and cones all around.

Yes, Scotland has freely-flourishing Fly Agarics sprouting about here and there. Fancy a lick?

A bit of pastoral red, but not as much as…

This is sweet gingiber, who is SO color-coordinated that even the vegetation changed to match her.

But now it’s wet as hell. These pictures, roaring with color and vivacity, keep me warm.

add a bespectacled professor by day/knight by night (reserves only), a rope swing, oceanview window, and a border collie to the dawyck house, and you've got my dream retirement!

Just for that, the next one is being taken from *inside* you.
I have no idea of the logistics of that, however.
    Oh, never mind.

I did, but they were also stoned off their arses from the Fly.
Were you there, dancing and reveling?

In a way, you are, my brother.
Pretty soon, you'll have that Christmas bonus, and you'll blow it on a short trip out here. And then *you'll* be licking redcaps.
