Seeds Between My Teeth.

Ah, break time.

The first paper is done and in, and now I have a few weeks to enjoy myself, to set aside the ideas and notes and towers of books, ever closing in around me and stacked up in disheveled piles like literary flapjacks. How I reward myself is by getting in order another small paper for a seminar date at the end of January, and this on my holiday. Perhaps there’s something wrong with me… but this one is FUN! Or at the very least a bit more focused on areas of my study that I enjoy delving into. And it keeps me busy, during a time when most folks around here are preoccupied with getting their Christmas plans in order, and dealing with the mad rush of appeasing insatiable appetites for holiday cake and chocolate. Or just working, really hard.

At thirty years old, I find it hard to live the student’s life. If I thought I had some time to get a part-time job, I would gladly do so. Unfortunately, the intense amount of word-soaking I have to do this year precludes me from spending too much time out of touch with my good friend Mr. Library and his mistress, Lady Archive. Again, the days of consistent income taunt me from behind the veil of memory, but I will return to that again someday soon. Right now, I feel rather like a small, dreadlocked parasite…

Looking forward to catching the fights this evening at The Monkey, and seeing some of the gang this weekend for this, which I’ve been drooling for since it’s been released. We also have planned a screening of the extended Two Towers before the release of RotK next week.

    board games
Have you ever played Settlers of Catan or its extension, Knights and Cities? If you like Carcassone, you'd probably enjoy both of those games.

Ooh, I have. Actually, I've played the space version of Catan. Really fun- I'm a fan of any game that gives me my own rocket to play with.

Oh, yes. We often have Settlers nights, with all the expansions. I just got a cute little travel version, for those long pub evenings…
