HOLEEEEEE SHIIIIIT!

My supervisor just forwarded me some contact info from the NTS regarding their big Culloden battlefield reworking project. This just dropped into my In-box:

The National Trust for Scotland are redeveloping the visitor centre and landscape of Culloden Battlefield. The object is to move the visitor centre away form the Government lines and to restore the landscape to how it looked in 1746. I  have been appointed to head a research team whose object is to collate accurate historical information, images and objects for use in the new visitor centre and to help interpret the battle and the landscape. We are seeking individuals with academic or museum backgrounds who are able to work P/T on the project. Fees will be discussed on appointment. The work will commence immediately and continue for at least 6 months and probably longer.

I cannot tell you how excited I am. Alex personally referred me, and I think I’ve just burst my cerebellum. I knew this project was happening, but I never thought for a second that I might be able to be a part of it. And it’s a paid gig!

*faints, hits head on rock, misses application process*

No fainting and hitting your head on a rock! Someone should immediately commence following you around whilst holding a soft pillow to cushion your goofy cranium in the event of such silliness.
Much congratulations. I think its fabulous news. Even if it does mean you come home even later and thus remain more or less my imaginary friend.
