That’s My Bag, Baby.

Thank you, thank you to my dear housemates at Le Chateau de Woe, angledge and evilfb. I finally purchased a high-quality heavy bag, something I’d always hoped to obtain for easy home workouts. No time these days, you know. I came home from work late the other day to find it strung, hung, and ready to beat on furiously. I’m touched that they’d take the time out of their day to make mine so pleasant.

These thirty-something joints and tendons are simply not what they used to be, even a few years ago. Mortality creeps in, and all we can do is keep the endorphins pumping to provide us with improved physical and emotional health. The expenditure of energy ironically breeds a flowing vein of motivation to support everyday regimens and cycles, and I look forward to that minty-fresh rush of exertion and aching muscles once again. Quicker reaction time, more tone and leanness. A wiry bastion to stave off the creeping reaper.

I’m fortunate enough to live within a short run of Ocean Beach – why in god’s name haven’t I taken advantage of it yet? Time, of course. I’d like to buy a heavy bag full of time, please. Then I could pop it left and right, short jabs and quick hooks, and blessed time would squirt out from angles hitherto thought unimaginable, and I’d be awash in tide-pools of thick, ambrosial time. That’s all I really want. Time to think, to write, and to sort out my conflicting paths.

And she thinks it’s about her.

    It's a hundred-pound rag-stuffed Everlast.
I got the bastard on sale for 30% off, too.

I'm afraid to show her anything, on the grounds that she might one day use it against me.
Sure! Bring her over and she can go all ape-shit on the thing.

When I was younger, I wanted to be a kick-boxer. I probably have the right frame for it too: wide shouldered and medium height.
