Hopping the Whitecaps.

And this is what it feels like, this strange human activity known as vacation. Today marks the first day of a much-needed break from work, in fact the first one I’ve taken since my return from Scotland. I’m thoroughly excited, as it will be kicked off by the confluence of two remarkable events: Le Chateau’s first house concert and also the arrival of two of my dearest friends from over yonder, hermiston and his quean. We’ve got an enormous week planned, and it’s so nice to be a prepared host after so much love and attention was shown to me during my many journeys to Aberdeen. Only a few days are solidly planned thusfar, but we’ve got enough ideas in our heads to keep every moment occupied – and then some. From long jaunts through Steinbeck country to Napa wine flirtations to marathon evenings of historical-minded discourse and analysis, it’s going to be good for my soul in so many ways. Really, I’m more excited to see him than I can express.

So much I’d like to catch up on. Even though this is the start of a break of sorts, today is going to be filled with preparation for the show and for our guests. Much of me wants to sit down and give some proper loving to this old, neglected journal – to chart the ebbs and flows, communicate with dear people, and to photo-catalogue some of the wonders that this winter has brought. And as for future plans, well, it looks like this is the year that big things are going to happen occupationally, after much concern and frustration. Exciting announcements on all fronts, and it’s the sharing that makes them most special. I hope you’ll hang in there with me while I navigate the dips between the waves. As with any good forum of modern media, excitement here is only a few posts away, whether contrived or genuine.

And, of course, I hope all is well with you.

How in the world did you know?
Just picked up some Ubriaco Prosecco and Parmigiano Sardo – both of which are killing me, right now, from the refrigerator.

Enjoy!! All of it…vacation, friends' visit, purring kitty cat ["D's *home*! In the *daytime*! Serious lap time ahead!"], yummy foods & uisgebeatha. You deserve a break, for sure!
Oh, and don't worry too much about the "dips between the waves" — it's the dips on top of the waves with badly-steered surfboards that'll get ya. 😉
